AM Joinery is proud to showcase this latest project installing composite fencing and decking in Whitehaven. This customer got in touch after seeing our recent work as his timber fences and decking had seen better days! Weathered and rotting, it was taking too much time to maintain every year for little aesthetic reward. Therefore, he called our team to discuss a low-maintenance, highly durable replacement for his timber decking and fences.
The Site Visit & Quote
Once we had an initial phone consultation with the customer discussing rough estimates and measurements, a site visit was booked. This is to make accurate measurements and discuss the customer’s requirements. As you can see from the images below, this customer had a great space to work with. We, of course, recommended Trex ® composite decking, as this gives the customer what he wants: quality and durability without compromising on style.
Composite Decking Whitehaven
Our customer chose the Trex Transcend Lineage®, which is a mid-to-high in their product range with amazing results. In addition to the obvious quality of this product, a big deciding factor is the colour scheme available. He wanted a decking design that would stand out and be different whilst still blending in with the overall feel of his home. Therefore, he chose to combine Tiki Torch to match the brickwork of his home and the Island Mist to blend in with his new composite fencing.
The Decking Design
For this decking design, we mixed it up a bit using a triple diagonal border against an opposing diagonal design. Using big, wide steps with Trex® Aluminium railings to perfectly frame the design. On a side note – we absolutely love the Trex® Aluminium railings, by far the best materials we have ever used. A little pricier, but very much worth the investment. It’s got to be said we absolutely love the result, and so does he! Which is a good job, as this decking is guaranteed for a huge 50 years, meaning he will have plenty of time to enjoy it.

To complement this newly decked area, we recommended quality composite fencing from our local reputable suppliers, Cumbria Composite Decking. This offers a no-hassle, minimum-maintenance solution to our customers’ fencing needs. Meaning no more annual painting, just a quick washdown and they are as good as new. Much easier than the rotting timber fences they replaced! We installed new aluminium fence posts, providing a much sturdier frame.
